Your apartment is located on the Keizersgracht in the heart of the Canal Belt. The Dutch word for canal is gracht and Keizer means emperor. This canal is one of the three biggest and most prestigious canals of Amsterdam. The other two are the Herengracht and the Prinsengracht. In the 17th century the wealthy Merchants lived in the big monumental canal houses with beautiful gables. Go for a nice walk to the Museumplein or the Museum square.
The Rijksmuseum is a big museum with 200 halls full of 17th century paintings of Dutch masters like Rembrandt, Hals and Steen. The Night Watch of Rembrandt is probably the most well known. Or if you prefer expressionism then go to the Van Gogh museum and see the Potato Eaters of this famous painter or two of his self portraits.
The Vondelpark is named after the famous Dutch poet Vondel who lived in the 17th century. It is the longest stretched city park of Amsterdam. There are ponds, walking trails and even many people like to pick nick on the grass. This park was designed in 1864 based on the English landscape style.
