Jordaan Marnix Apartment A

Overlooking a picturesque canal in the Jordaan, the two bedroom apartment has great features: exposed beam ceilings, wooden floors, chalk white walls and lots of windows which fill the apartment with natural light. It is classic and homey decorated with a serene colour scheme of soothing greys, browns, beiges and pops of lively green.

On the ground floor is the living-dining area, spacious and bright with a generous window display. There are two graceful chairs, a coffee table and, for your entertainment, a Flat Screen TV. Elegant in a relaxed way, the dining area contrasts beautifully with the modern kitchen -- white minimalism at its best, and yet it’s equipped with everything you might need to cook an elaborate meal.

One floor down, via the traditionally steep staircase, are the bedrooms. Fairytale dreams, woods, whiteness and peace, one of the bedrooms is fitted out with a double bed, the second one with two single beds. The bathrooms are handsomely designed, furnished with state of the art appliances like a massage shower and a large bathtub, ideal to recharge for another adventurous day/night in the city.

The Marnix Apartment can comfortably house four persons. What a sweet Amsterdam stay!

Location

The Jordaan is one of the oldest and most charming neighbourhoods of Amsterdam. Originally a working class district, the Jordaan has become one of the most expensive, up scale locations in the Netherlands whilst simultaneously preserving its distinctive character and historical architecture. Marnixkade largely forms the eastern shore of the northern part of the Singelgracht and was built on a hill which was part of the ramparts. In the second half of the 19th century, the city of Amsterdam under pressure from the huge demand for housing and urban facilities, had to build in these green lands. Rembrandt spent the last years of his life in the Jordaan on the Rozengracht canal. He was buried in the Westerkerk church, at the corner of Rozengracht and Prinsengracht. Also the Anne Frank House, where Anne Frank went into hiding during WWII is located on the edge of the Jordaan, on the Prinsengracht canal. Today the Jordaan is home to many art galleries, particularly modern art, and is also dotted with speciality shops and restaurants. Markets are held regularly at Noordmarkt, the Westerstraat, the Lapjesmarkt textile market and Lindengracht. Although bursting with lovely little shops, cosy restaurants and trendy hotspots, the Jordaan area is also known for its relaxed atmosphere. On sunny days many of its residents will sit on their porch revelling in nature. Deviate from the common path and get lost in the little alleys where there are many small canals and streets with boutiques, bars and trendy restaurants. Means of transportation are easily available.
